Con questo comunicato rivendichiamo la liberazione di 407 porcellini d`India dall`allevamento `Bettinardi` situato in via Cascinini ad Alzate di Momo, in provincia di Novara, avvenuta la notte del 5 settembre 2013.
Da oltre 10 anni l`allevamento di cavie e conigli di proprieta` di Giuseppe Bettinardi rifornisce l`industria della vivisezione nel piu` totale anonimato.
Non stupisce che immediatamente dopo l`azione i media abbiano tentato di nascondere la verita` riguardo a questa struttura, descritta come `allevamento di animali da compagnia`. Sfortunatamente per Bettinardi, siamo in possesso di tutte le informazioni necessarie per rendere finalmente noti i suoi legami con l`industria della sperimentazione animale.
Bettinardi alleva conigli ( prevalentemente `New Zealand white`) e cavie di razza `Dunkin Hartley`, questo tipo di animale viene utilizzato esclusivamente a fini di ricerca.
Abbiamo reperito informazioni su innumerevoli crudeli esperimenti di `ricerca di base` in diverse universita` italiane e sappiamo con sicurezza che questo allevamento rifornisce con continuita` le universita` di Milano e Pavia.
Siamo a conoscenza di esperimenti nei quali cavie allevate da Bettinardi sono state uccise esclusivamente per prelevare porzioni di muscolo dal loro stomaco, per poterle in seguito stimolare elettricamente nel tentativo di stabilire se il farmaco `Levosulpiride` abbia o meno effetto procinetico (ossia se sia in grado di stimolare la funzione motoria intestinale).
Durante due altri esperimenti ad un totale di 40 conigli provenienti da questo allevamento e` stata aperta la gabbia toracica, una canula e` stata inserita all`interno mentre gli animali erano vivi e coscienti ed una speciale soluzione e` stata iniettata nei loro polmoni. Gli animali sono stati infine uccisi, di modo da poter raccogliere campioni di liquido dai polmoni durante una ricerca sul funzionamento di questo organo.
In altri due esperimenti di appena alcuni mesi fa 38 e 22 conigli, sempre allevati in questo luogo, venivano uccisi per dissanguamento (il che significa che e` stata loro tagliata la gola e sono stati fatti sanguinare sino alla morte) solo per poter rimuovere la loro gabbia toracica ed i loro polmoni come parte di una ricerca sulla lubrificazione dell`apparato respiratorio.
Questi sono solo alcuni esempi degli esperimenti che questo allevamento ha reso possibili rifornendo gli animali ai laboratori durante gli anni.
Sebbene una parte del movimento, e la maggior parte delle persone, spesso concentri la propria attenzione su altri animali usati nella ricerca (come cani o scimmie) le specie piu` piccole rimangono le maggiormente usate nella vivisezione. In Italia vengono usati in media 13870 porcellini d’India ogni anno nei laboratori, contro i circa 950 cani.
La reazione quando si parla di cani e` maggiore in quanto le persone riescono piu`facilmente a connettere con questi animali o semplicemente perche` li percepiscono piu` familiari. Ma gli individui che soffrono e muoiono nelle strutture di ricerca sono molti di piu` e la nostra lotta ambisce alla liberazione di ognuno di loro.
La vivisezione, in un sistema capitalista globalizzato, rappresenta uno dei settori dello sfruttamento animale piu` redditizi per una delle industrie piu` potenti al mondo, quella chimico farmaceutica.
La fede cieca nel progresso scientifico e tecnologico, propugnata da ricercatori e multinazionali, e` l’ espressione ultima della mentalita`capitalista e antropocentrica.
Quest’ideologia che ci presentano come il cammino inarrestabile dell’essere umano verso un presunto miglioramento delle nostre condizioni di vita, e` usata come giustificazione per il dominio sulla natura, la tortura e l`uccisione di un numero infinito di animali non umani, come pure di esseri umani usati come cavie nei paesi economicamente poveri, nelle carceri o negli ospedali psichiatrici.
L’allevamento e` composto da due grossi capannoni attaccati in fila l’uno dietro all’altro, che formano una struttura divisa in varie sezioni, alcune usate per i conigli ed una per i porcellini d’India.
Tutti i conigli rinchiusi in questo allevamento sono tenuti in gabbie strette e completamente spoglie, dove non hanno possibilita` di alzarsi, girarsi o fare qualsiasi altro movimento.
La maggior parte dei porcellini d’India sono tenuti in box di legno in gruppi piuttosto numerosi, mentre un numero minore di animali sono rinchiusi in piccole gabbie di plastica, in gruppi da 3 a 5.
In nessuno degli spazi dove gli animali vivono sono presenti tane o luoghi dove poter trovare rifugio, anche se per loro si tratta di un bisogno primario ed il dover restare sempre esposti sia una grossa fonte di stress.
L’abitazione dei propietari, una grande casa di campagna, e’ situata a pochi metri dai capannoni. Intorno case e campi tra cui camminiamo al buio, per raggiungerli. L’erba ci accarezza le gambe mentre in fila indiana apriamo sentieri non scritti. Non e` contemplata via di fuga per gli animali, ma questa notte creeremo un nuovo varco: le finestre diverranno porte, i campi vie per la liberta`. Daremo aria fresca ai nostri sogni ed agli animali che ancora non sanno cosa sia.
Quanti saranno? ce la faremo a portarne via cosi` tanti? avranno paura?
Anche noi abbiamo paura, non siamo eroi da sangue e cuore freddo. Incertezze ed errori sono presenti, ma la rabbia e` troppo grande, l’odio e` troppo forte. Nulla ci puo` togliere la voglia di agire affinche` ad avere paura siano i nostri nemici.
Avvicinandoci all’allevamento cade una stella cadente, per ora un unico desiderio: tornare a casa sani e salvi con tanti musetti intorno a noi.
Il palo si posiziona per controllare I movimenti all’interno della casa e durante l’azione ci muoviamo facendo meno rumore possibile, mentre all’interno della abitazione qualcuno accende e spegne la luce, guardando uno schermo, ignaro di cio` che sta accadendo a pochi metri di distanza.
A coprire un poco il suono dei nostri movimenti ed i fischi dei porcellini d’India c’e` una ventola di aerazione dell’allevamento e di tanto in tanto l’abbaiare del cane del proprietario o di quello dei vicini di casa, o ancora, il passaggio di un treno in lontananza.
Rimuoviamo la zanzariera che ricopre una finestra aperta sul retro del capannone, sulla parte opposta alla casa, che avevamo individuato durante la preparazione dell’azione.
La finestra si trova a piu` di 2 metri di altezza, quindi mettiamo delle scale contro il muro, una all`esterno ed una all`interno della stanza in cui sono imprigionati centinaia di porcellini d`India.
Entriamo, ci ambientiamo velocemente e cominciamo subito a riempire i contenitori che useremo per trasportare gli animali.
Prima della notte dell’azione il nostro gruppo ha discusso a lungo sull’opzione di liberare anche dei conigli, ma per motivi pratici abbiamo dovuto prendere una decisione estremamente difficile. In effetti , a causa della dimensione molto stretta della finestra da cui abbiamo portato via gli animali, e delle condizioni assai delicate in cui si e` svolta l’azione, abbiamo optato per portare via il maggior numero possibile di individui e per ovvi motivi di tempo, spazio e peso, questo ha significato concentrarci sui porcellini d’India, riuscendo alla fine a svuotare quasi tutto il capannone.
Ci dispiace tantissimo non aver potuto liberare tutti gli animali. Quelli che abbiamo preso con noi vivono ora in luoghi accoglienti con le necessarie cure e con tutto il tempo per dimenticare l’allevamento e non conoscere mai le fredde mani dei vivisettori.
Prima di andarcene lasciamo un messaggio a Bettinardi con una scritta sul muro interno del capannone quasi vuoto “ Il loro incubo e` finito, il tuo e` appena cominciato” firmato ALF con una A cerchiata.
Ed ora andiamo via di qui prima dell`alba! Scappiamo, ma lentamente…sono pesanti 407 porcellini d’India!
Una volta al sicuro ci guardiamo, siamo quasi piu` di mille occhi e non abbiamo piu’ dubbi: l` ALF ha vinto ancora.
Questa liberazione, come ogni altra azione diretta, apre squarci di liberta` che non sono recuperabili dal sistema, andando direttamente all’obbiettivo.
L’azione diretta e` uno strumento efficace, ma non solo, la rivendichiamo politicamente in quanto contiene in se` la nostra critica allo sfruttamento e la nostra voglia di contrattaccare.
Sabotaggi, attacchi e liberazioni si pongono al di fuori della triste logica dell’attivismo ‘politicante’ e legalitarista, ci mostrano le potenzialita` sovversive dei nostri sogni, e di cosa possiamo fare se ci mettiamo in gioco in prima persona.
Forza e solidarieta’ a chi nella lotta per la liberazione animale e della terra ha dovuto fare i conti con la repressione dello stato ed ha continuato a resistere.
Questa liberazione e` dedicata a voi ed a chi, con la complicita` della luna nera, cospira e si muove furtivamente per distruggere con rabbia la tranquillita` degli sfruttatori ed aprire con amore le gabbie.

PS : Con il recente aumento di persone interessate alla ‘questione animale’ in Italia abbiamo assistito alla crescita di alcuni fenomeni preoccupanti, dei quali purtroppo ci troviamo a dover discutere in questo spazio.
In primo luogo vogliamo esprimere la nostra repulsione per I tentativi da parte di gruppi e/o individui di estrema destra di appropriarsi e farsi portavoce della ‘causa animalista’ , in italia ed all’estero.
I fascisti hanno spesso tentato di recuperare ed usare a loro favore diverse lotte sociali o di liberazione, snaturandole e svuotandole dei contenuti, al fine di rimpolpare le loro fila e cercare consensi in ambienti storicamente opposti ai loro ideali fondati su autoritarismo ed odio del diverso.
Sta a tutte le persone che hanno a cuore la lotta di liberazione animale opporsi, con le proprie parole, ma soprattutto con le proprie azioni e con determinazione, a qualsiasi tipo di fascismo.
Proviamo solo odio e disgusto per ministre zoofile, nazisti cammuffati da black bloc e chi usa l’ acronimo ALF misconoscendone la storia e le radici antifasciste.
PS2 : Un altro problema e` la presenza di numerosi siti internet o profili su social networks che mistificano i contenuti della lotta per la liberazione animale e la teoria alla base dell’azione diretta, attraverso una grottesca rappresentazione dell’ALF come un ‘ commando di eroi mascherati’.
Principalmente due di questi spazi hanno catturato la nostra attenzione: il sito fronteliberazioneanimale.weebly.com ed il loro profilo ‘ALF- Fronte Liberazione Animale Italia’.
Queste persone sono arrivate al punto di richiedere pubblicamente soldi per ipotetiche campagne di supporto ai prigionieri, ma nulla e` mai arrivato a persone in carcere. Il loro ‘ufficio stampa’ non esiste ed il fondo si e` toccato quando sono state diffuse informazioni riguardo ad un prigioniero mai esistito con il solo fine di ricevere piu` donazioni.
Per noi siete nemici: non siete diversi da infami e sfruttatori di animali e meritate lo stesso trattamento. Non pubblicate o diffondete questo comunicato – voi non siete parte di questa lotta.

With this communique we claim responsibility for the liberation of 407 guinea pigs from the ‘Bettinardi’ breeding farm, located in via Cascinini in the town of Alzate di Momo, province of Novara, that happened the 5th of September 2013.
Since over 10 years the guinea pigs and rabbits farm owned by Giuseppe Bettinardi is supplying the vivisection industry in the most complete anonymity.
We’re not surprised that right after the liberation medias tried to hide the truth about this facility, described as a ‘pet animals farm’. Unfortunately for Bettinardi we have all the needed informations to finally reveal his ties with animal testing.
Bettinardi breeds rabbits ( mostly ‘New Zealand white’) and ‘Dunkin Hartley’ guinea pigs, this breed of guinea pig is used exclusively for research purposes.
We managed to obtain informations on countless cruel ‘basic research’ experiments in different italian universities and we know for sure that this farm regularly supplies Milano’s and Pavia’s universities.
We have knowledge of experiments in which guinea pigs bred from Bettinardi have been killed just to remove muscle strips out of their stomachs, so that they could be stimulated electrically in the attempt to establish if the drug ‘Levosulpiride’ has, or not, prokinetic effect ( which means that a certain drug is able to activate the intestinal motoric function).
During two other experiments the rib cage of a total of 40 rabbits coming from this farm has been opened, a cannula has been inserted inside while the animals were still alive and conscious and a special solution has been injected in their lungs. The animals have been finally killed, so that liquid samples from their lungs could be collected during a research about the functioning of this organ.
During two other experiments, this time of just a couple of months ago, 38 and 22 rabbits bred in this facility have been killed by exsanguination ( which means that their throat has been slicked and they’ve been left to bleed out until death) just so that vivisectors could remove their rib cage and their lungs in an experiment on the breathing system lubrication.
These are just a few examples of the experiments that this farm made possible supplying labs throughout the years.
Even if a part of the movement, and most people, often focuses its attention on other animals used in research ( like dogs, or monkeys), smaller species are still the most used in vivisection. In italy alone 13870 guinea pigs are used in labs as an average per year, while the average number of used dogs is 950. The reaction is often stronger when we talk about dogs probably because persons can easily connect with these animals, or simply because they feel them as more familiar. But the individuals suffering and dying inside research laboratories are many more and our struggle aims to the liberation of each and everyone of them.
Vivisection, inside a capitalist and globalized system like ours, represents one of the most profitable sectors of animal exploitation for one of the most powerful industries in the world, the chemical-pharmaceutical one. The blind trust into scientific and technological progress, pushed forward from researchers and multinationals, it’s the ultimate expression of the capitalist and anthropocentric mentality.
This ideology that it’s presented to us as the unstoppable path of the human race towards a supposed improvement of our conditions of life, is used as a justification for the dominion over nature, the torture and killing of countless non-human animals, but also of human beings used as ‘objects of research’ in poor countries, in jails or mental hospitals.
The Bettinardi farm is composed of two main halls attached one to the other, that are forming a structure divided into several sections, some used for rabbits and one for the guinea pigs. All the rabbits imprisoned in this farm are kept into tight, empty cages, where they have not the possibility to stand, turn around or make any other movement.
Most of the guinea pigs are kept in wooden boxes in quite big groups, while smaller numbers of animals are locked into plastic cages, in groups from 3 to 5. In none of the spaces where the animals live they have the possibility to find any kind of shelter, even if for them this is a primary need and being forced to remain constantly exposed is a huge source of stress.
During the liberation we found evidence of surgery procedures performed on the animals already inside the farm. Many guinea pigs show scars or recent wounds in several parts of the body. These animals were kept on a separated part of the room, together with others with shaved areas on the back or identification marks on the fur.
We’ve chosen to describe these conditions to reveal the horrors of this, as any other, breeding farm, but we have no interest in the sizes of the cages, as we aim for nothing less than the destruction of the cage itself.
The home of the owners is a big countryside house located just a few meters from the sheds. All around there are other houses and fields, where we walk to reach the farm. The grass touches our legs while one behind the other we walk unwritten paths. No way out is planned for the animals, but tonight we’ll create a new gap: windows will become doors, the fields ways towards freedom. We’ll give fresh air to our dreams and to the animals who still don’t know what that is.
How many they will be? Will we be able to take away so many of them? Will they be scared?
We are scared, we’re not cold blooded heroes with a fearless heart. Doubts and mistakes are present, but the rage is too much, the hate is too strong. Nothing can take us away the will to act so that our enemies will start to be the ones in fear.
Getting closer to the farm we see a falling star, for now just one wish: to come back home safe and sound, with many and many muzzles all around us.
The lookout takes position to check the movements inside the house and during the action we move trying to minimize the noise, while inside someone turn the light on and off, watching a screen, unaware of what is happening just a few meters away.
To cover a little the noise of our movements and the whistles of the guinea pigs there is the ventilation system of the farm and every now and then the barking of the dog of the owner, or of the one of the neighbors, or also the noise of a train passing far away.
We remove the mosquito net from a window on the back side of the shed, on the opposite side of the house, that we found during the preparation of the action. The window is higher than 2 meters, so we put two stairs, one outside and one inside the room where hundreds of guinea pigs are imprisoned.
Once inside we familiarize with the environment and we immediately start to fill the containers that we’ll use to transport the animals.
The night before the action our group discussed for long time about the possibility of freeing also some rabbits, but for practical reasons we needed to take an extremely difficult decision. In fact, cause of the tight dimension of the window from where we took the animals, and of the particular conditions under which the action took place, we’ve chosen to bring away the higher number possible of individuals, and this meant, for obvious reasons of time, space and weight to focus on the guinea pigs, managing in the end to empty up almost the whole shed.
We’re truly sorry that we could not free all of them. Those who came with us are now in safe homes with all the necessary cares, they have all the time of the world to forget about the farm and they’ll never get to know the cold hands of vivisectors.
Before going away we leave a message to Bettinardi written on the inside walls of the almost empty shed : “ Their nightmare is over, yours has just begun” signed ALF with an A in a circle.
And now let’s run away from here before dawn! We run, but slowly…cause 407 guinea pigs are quite heavy!
Once we’re safe we watch each other, we’re over a thousand eyes and there are no doubts : the ALF won again.
This liberation, as any other direct action, is opening breaches of freedom that the system is not able to recover, going straight to the target. Direct action is an effective tool, but not just that, we claim it politically as it contains in itself our critique to exploitation and our will to fight back.
Sabotages, attacks and liberations are outside of the sad dynamic of ‘legalistic activism’ , they’re showing us the subversive potential of our dreams, and what we can really do if we decide to put ourselves on the line.
Strength and solidarity to those that in the struggle for animal and earth liberation had to deal with state repression and are still resisting.
This liberation is dedicated to you and to those that, with the complicity of the black moon are conspiring, moving in silence to destroy with rage the tranquility of the abusers and open the cages with love.

PS : With the increasing number of people interested in the ‘animal issue’ in italy we experienced the development of some worrying phenomenons, of which unfortunately we feel the need to discuss in this space. First and foremost we want to express our repulsion for the attempt of right wing groups and individuals to embezzle the ‘ animal liberation cause’, trying to become spoke persons for it, in italy and abroad. Fascists have always tried to steal and use in their favor several social and liberation struggle, distorting them and emptying them up of every content, in the attempt of getting more followers and find space in environments that are historically opposed to their ideals based on authoritarianism and hate for the ‘different’. It’s a duty for anybody who truly cares about the struggle for animal liberation to oppose, with words, but even more with their actions and with determination, to any kind of fascism.
We feel nothing but hate and disgust for ‘animal friendly’ ministers, nazis dressed up like black blocs and those who are using the name ALF distorting the truth about its history and its antifascist roots.
PS2 : Another issue is represented by the growing number of internet websites or social networks profiles that are confusing the contents of the animal liberation struggle and of the theory at the base of direct action, through a grotesque representation of the ALF as a ‘black masked heroes commando’.
Mainly two of these platforms caught our attention: the website fronteliberazioneanimale.weebly.com and their profile ‘ALF – Fronte Liberazione Animale Italia’. These people went so far that they’ve started to ask money for hypothetical prisoners support campaigns, but not one cent ever arrived to anybody in prison.
Their ‘press office’ is a scam and the lowest level was reached when they shared fake informations about a prisoner who never existed with the only aim of getting more donations.
For us you’re nothing but enemies: you’re no different from snitches and animal abusers and you deserve the same treatment. Don’t publish or share this communique – you’re not part of this struggle.
